The Oil and Gas Trainers Association of Nigeria (OGTAN) has concluded its 2026 National Executive Council Strategic Retreat, held on the 6th and 7th of May in Port Harcourt, setting a clear and ambitious 12-month roadmap for driving 𝗛𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗖𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 (𝗛𝗖𝗗) across Nigeria’s energy industry.
The retreat was anchored on a singular conviction—that the future of Nigeria’s oil and gas industry, and indeed the prosperity of the nation, rests squarely on the strength of its human capital.
𝗗𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗛𝗖𝗗 𝗢𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗡𝗲𝘅𝘁 12 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵𝘀
Over the next twelve months, OGTAN will:
• Accelerate the 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗢𝗰𝗰𝘂𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗿𝗱 (𝗡𝗢𝗦) and drive towards ISO/IEC 17024 accreditation — establishing authoritative national references for training quality and competence assurance.
• Deepen industry–academia collaboration to align training with the real workforce needs of the sector.
• Expand the 𝗢𝗚𝗧𝗔𝗡 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹𝘀 (𝗢𝗬𝗣) Programme—Boot Camp, Innovation Challenge, Forum, and Mentorship Scheme—to develop the next generation of Nigerian energy talent.
• Strengthen strategic engagement with NCDMB, Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), NNPC Limited, African Petroleum Producers’ Organization and other key industry stakeholders.
• Convene operators, regulators, trainers, and academia under one roof at the 𝗢𝗚𝗧𝗔𝗡 𝗛𝗖𝗗 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 2026.
𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗰 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗩𝗶𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘀
As part of the retreat’s industry engagement drive, OGTAN leadership paid strategic visits to VURIN Group, Inspection and Tests Nigeria Limited, PANA Academy, and True-Blue Energy Services Limited—reinforcing collaboration with operators, training providers, and capacity-building institutions in support of Nigeria’s national development agenda.
