The Oil and Gas Trainers Association of Nigeria (OGTAN) has concluded its 2026 National Executive Council Strategic Retreat, held on the 6th and 7th of May in Port Harcourt, setting a clear and ambitious 12-month roadmap for driving ๐๐๐บ๐ฎ๐ป ๐๐ฎ๐ฝ๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ถ๐๐ ๐๐ฒ๐๐ฒ๐น๐ผ๐ฝ๐บ๐ฒ๐ป๐ (๐๐๐) across Nigeriaโs energy industry.
The retreat was anchored on a singular convictionโthat the future of Nigeriaโs oil and gas industry, and indeed the prosperity of the nation, rests squarely on the strength of its human capital.

Over the next twelve months, OGTAN will:
โข Accelerate the ๐ก๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป๐ฎ๐น ๐ข๐ฐ๐ฐ๐๐ฝ๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป๐ฎ๐น ๐ฆ๐๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ฑ (๐ก๐ข๐ฆ) and drive towards ISO/IEC 17024 accreditation โ establishing authoritative national references for training quality and competence assurance.
โข Deepen industryโacademia collaboration to align training with the real workforce needs of the sector.
โข Expand the ๐ข๐๐ง๐๐ก ๐ฌ๐ผ๐๐ป๐ด ๐ฃ๐ฟ๐ผ๐ณ๐ฒ๐๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป๐ฎ๐น๐ (๐ข๐ฌ๐ฃ) ProgrammeโBoot Camp, Innovation Challenge, Forum, and Mentorship Schemeโto develop the next generation of Nigerian energy talent.
โข Strengthen strategic engagement with NCDMB, Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), NNPC Limited, African Petroleum Producersโ Organization and other key industry stakeholders.
โข Convene operators, regulators, trainers, and academia under one roof at the ๐ข๐๐ง๐๐ก ๐๐๐ ๐๐ผ๐ป๐ณ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ป๐ฐ๐ฒ 2026.

As part of the retreatโs industry engagement drive, OGTAN leadership paid strategic visits to VURIN Group, Inspection and Tests Nigeria Limited, PANA Academy, and True-Blue Energy Services Limitedโreinforcing collaboration with operators, training providers, and capacity-building institutions in support of Nigeriaโs national development agenda.
