OGTAN services are targeted at membership improvement, industry sector enhancement and local content human capacity development – specifically employment generation through skills acquirement for Nigerians.
The standardization services of OGTAN for her membership are defined in our ATSP Protocol which seeks to ensure that all legal requirements for a training body operating in the Nigerian oil, gas and energy space are complied with by all OGTAN members. This includes formal registration with the Corporate Affairs Commission of Nigeria, Payment of all government and industry taxes, formal registration and payment of dues to all regulatory agencies pertaining to the industry including NipeX, NUPRC, NMDPRA, NCDMB, etc. In addition, OGTAN encourages all her members to adopt, practice and promote standards of operation in their management systems that comply with the requirements of ISO 9001:2015.
To ensure compliance of our training services to global best practices, we also encourage our membership to adopt the requirements of relevant international standards guiding various forms of training and certification of persons outside formal education such as ISO: 29992; 29993 & 29994; ANSI/IACET 1-2013; ASTM E2659-15; ISO 10015 (ISO/TC/176). Members are encouraged to draft training manuals and adopt policies compliant with these international standards to retain a graded membership.
As the approved Oil and Gas Industry skills Awarding Body in Nigeria OGTAN provides approval of Training Bodies and Assessment Centers within her membership for effective implementation and execution of the ongoing NCDMB-NBTE synergy program of development of National Occupational Standards (NOS) for the oil and gas industry in Nigeria. Approved and Accredited Training & Assessment Centers under the OGTAN Awarding Body are offered certification services by the Association in line with guidelines for vocational education and training established for these agencies.
In consonance with the program of OGTAN to develop and maintain a professional Body of Knowledge (OGTAN BoK) as part of her NCDMB mandate for domestication and domiciliation of training in Nigeria, OGTAN undertakes curriculum development to bridge skills gaps for the industry and promotes sponsorship of these curriculum for relevant accreditation, OGTAN also offers curriculum development consultancy and collaboration/partnerships with stakeholders who desire to close identified skills gaps in the areas of their operations in the oil and gas industry in Nigeria which they desire to sponsor its development and accreditation. Relevant partnerships for effecting this services professionally by OGTAN have been established with both local and international stakeholders and institutes, the latest of such partnerships effected with the Petroleum Training Institute (PTI), Effurun, near Warri, under the oversight of NCDMB.
OGTAN is also involved in learning materials production and distribution for aiding learning services provisions by stakeholder agencies in various skill sets.
Relevant professional and technical Committees and Commissions exist in OGTAN for effective rendition of all our services.
OGTAN gives membership welfare issues very high priority and have recently established in our revised Constitution Welfare Coordinator Positions at both Zonal and National Levels to give formal impetus to this membership service. OGTAN offers membership welfare insurance cover and several other benefits to her members including discounted flights and hotels with OGTAN partner airlines and hotels.
